AN INVITATION TO THE 1ST FLOOR:
A CURATED DIALOGUE BETWEEN TRADITIONAL CRAFT AND THE UNEXPECTED

We are thrilled to finally pull back the curtain on a new, secret chapter in the Copenhagen design scene. Hidden on the 1st floor, in extension of our furniture workshop, we have opened a new gallery space. A place where refined craftsmanship meets contemporary art in a setting that feels both intimate and raw.

A Curated Dialogue of Art and Function

While Københavns Møbelsnedkeri (Copenhagen Joinery) has long been in the business of bespoke kitchens, wardrobes, bathrooms, lighting and furniture, this new initiative elevates the craft into the sphere of a gallery experience.

The Gallery – hidden on the1st floor is a living, breathing space that hosts a rotating selection of works and installations. We are launching with an opening exhibition that brings together an extraordinary collective of both Danish and international artists and designers – a group we are incredibly honored to represent and showcase under one roof.

Visitors can expect a diverse array of mediums, including fine art paintings, avant-garde installations, textile works, and much more. The furniture pieces are not merely displayed; they are integrated into the artistic narrative.

The Art of Intarsia

One of the most exciting new craft explorations being highlighted is the mastery of intarsia (marquetry). The artisans are pushing the boundaries of this traditional technique, working with detailed wood patterns that incorporate a vibrant spectrum of colors, as well as designs with metal inlays. This creates graphic surfaces that transform furniture into sculptural art pieces.

An example of this mastery is the creation of two bespoke cabinets, each featuring intarsia on their doors. Custom-designed for two distinct collectors, one cabinet depicts a fishing motif for a client in Iceland, while the other was commissioned for a historic manor and features a hunting scene.
